i never understood the allude of texting at all.
me neither, I have irc and aim and email, why do I need texting in addition. a later but more limited less sophisticated technology that COSTS MONEY for no reason (???) compared to all the already-existing alternatives. AND, you used to have to use a crappy phone number pad to write texts. phones are for phoning. and, if you have a data plan, for aim/email/irc.
edit: also, one thing I do use my phone for is alerts (i.e., I get a text message as an alarm when something I want to know the minute it happens happens). however, at least on verizon, these texts can be delayed anywhere from 1 minute to 3 days. completely useless. I can make a phone call and have it be instant, and have it take more bandwidth than a text message. why can't a text message be even more instant since it's smaller. idk.
